Oops- it's been a while since my last blog again. Time is flying by at warp speeds these days! How about a quick year-end synopsis on current events at RRBC? There is so much to do, eat, drink, and read during the Holidays, so I will do my best to keep this brief!
October ended up being the busiest month of the year for us. For those of you didn't see the final tally for our Breast Cancer fundraiser on Facebook, we ended up donating over $112K to the Sutter Breast Care Center of Santa Rosa! That was pretty exciting and a new record by far. Thanks again to all of you who helped out. Money like that saves lives.
Also in October, Vinnie and I got to spend nearly 2 weeks in Australia. He was a guest speaker at the Australian National Homebrewers Conference. I just tagged along, of course! For some reason I was unable to post on the brewery's Facebook page from Australia. Sorry for not sharing. Well, we had a lovely time. Saw lots of kangaroos, exotic birds, crocodiles, and even a very rare Cassowary! If you have not been to Australia, I highly recommend adding it to your bucket list. Snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef was easily one of the coolest things we have ever done!
We are still moving forward with the plans for Firestone to brew Pliny the Elder for us during our construction in January/February. They are as excited about helping as we are grateful for their friendship and generosity! I was sweating how we were going to pay the bills during that time. Whew! I will definitely keep you posted on the progress.
So, I think we are brewing Pliny the Younger next week. I'm just not mentally ready- can we just get through the Holidays before we start thinking about Younger?! Apparently not. If you are planning to come, The Flamingo Hotel has already set up a special rate for us: "Russian River Brewing Rate" You can call 800-848-8300, 707-545-8530 or by email at: email@example.com. I am planning to create a special "Younger" page with all the dirty details pretty soon. Let you know when that is posted to the website.
That's all for now. I need to get 300 Christmas cards out today and about a foot of mail off my desk. Vinnie and I wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday Season and a terrific 2015! And thanks for reading my blog! Cheers- Natalie
*Having difficulties uploading a picture so check out the About Us section for the latest Christmas Card photo. 85 employees and counting!
September 26, 2014Santa Rosa and PasoRobles, California- As you may well know, the folks at Russian RiverBrewing Company struggle everyday to supply an ever-increasing demand for their very popular Double IPA, Pliny the Elder. In 2008, Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo, Co-owners of the brewery, got a screaming deal on used brewing equipment from their friends [...]
Vinnie and I are about to embark on 2 fun weeks of Beer Camp Across America! Just wanted to give you a bit more information about our participation for those who are curious...RRBC is participating in the following festivals (Vinnie will miss Denver, but I will be there):7/19- Sierra Nevada in Chico, CA7/20- San Diego, CA7/25- Denver, [...]
I hope you are all enjoying your start to summer! We were in Paso Robles over the weekend where we participated in the Firestone-Walker Invitational. Vinnie, Amir, and I had a great time pouring beer for thousands of happy fest-goers. There was an extraordinary line-up of breweries from all over the world including Garage Project from New [...]
I know, I know- I really should blog more often. So here I am on a Sunday afternoon drinking a Sierra Nevada Pale while Vinnie is napping (with the cats, of course). My apologies for my irregular and infrequent blog posts. Thank you to the 29 or so confirmed readers- this one is for you!Pliny the [...]
We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2014!
Posted on December 2, 2013: I’m excited to report that at least 14 people let me know that they still read my blog! This weekend my Mom and her boyfriend, Jeff, were visiting for Thanksgiving and told me that they, too, enjoy reading the blog. For that, I am grateful and will continue to write to YOU, dear [...]
It has been some time again since my last blog. With more than 75 employees, 2 maxed out breweries, and a crazy busy brewpub, it's definitely getting harder to find time to do the things I enjoy the most. Although I do post on Facebook (more often but relatively infrequently), some of you have expressed [...]
June 28, 2013 Our company policy regarding filling growlers: Due to a recent reinterpretation of an existing liquor law by the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, breweries holding Type 23 licenses are now allowed to fill other breweries growlers with the proper legal information and state label approval. We, along with several other California breweries, have [...]
Santa Rosa will be getting a little Younger in just 2 weeks! Pliny the Younger will be tapped at our brewpub at 11am February 1st and will be available for 14 days until Valentine's Day! A certain amount will be allotted for each day so we can make it last the entire 2 weeks. Last [...]
